PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful improving material for the residential environment comprising hinokitiol combined with a porous particle as a carrier by paying attention to usefulness of both, and to provide an excellent building material, or the like, using the improving material for the residential environment.

SOLUTION: The improving material 1 for the residential environment consisting essentially of an artificial ceramic particle 11 is composed by holding a liquid 12 containing the hinokitiol in porous parts 11a of the artificial ceramic particle 11. The resultant improving material 1 for the residential environment is used for the various building materials, and the like.
