PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processor, a method, a record medium, and a program suitable for smoothing parts other than a steep edge of pixels constituting an image, while holding the steep edge. SOLUTION: In the image signal processor, an n filter 11 comprises a non-linear filter 12 for holding a steep edge with the size larger than a predetermined threshold for variation of pixels constituting an inputted image signal S0 and for smoothing parts other than the edge, a pattern detection unit 15 for informing detection of a minute edge to a switch 16 when the minute edge is detected in variations of the pixels constituting the inputted image signal S0, and the switch 16 for outputting the inputted image signal S0 or an image signal S1 outputted by the non-linear filter 12 to a post-stage in response to notification from the pattern detection unit 15.
