PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of a frame in an engine drive type generator, and to reduce the weight of the frame by reinforcing the frame by a control box storing and supporting electric equipment. SOLUTION: This engine drive type generator is constructed by supporting an engine 3 and the generator 4 driven by the engine 3 on the frame 2. The frame is constructed by integrally connecting a pair of right and left side frames 2b, 2b formed by bending a steel pipe l to be U-shaped at the lower side parts thereof by a cross member 7. The control box 34 connecting the open end parts to each other to reinforce the frame 2 and storing and holding the electric equipment 53, 55 is mounted, and the assembly of the engine 3 and the generator 4 is elastically supported on the cross member 7.
