[Also in Division C5] Substituted pyrrolines of the general formula in which Y<SP>1</SP> represents a C 1-5 alkoxy group substituted by one or more cyanide, sulphocyanide, alkoxy, aryloxy, halogenated and/or nitrated aryloxy, or nitrogen- and/or oxygen- and/or sulphur-containing heterocyclic radicals or one or more halogen atoms, are prepared by a double decomposition or exchange reaction between a # 1 -pyrroline substituted in the 2- position by an alkoxy group, and a hydroxy compound of the formula Y<SP>1</SP>H, where Y<SP>1</SP> is as above. Examples describe the preparation of compounds in which Y<SP>1</SP> is a 2-phenoxyethoxy, 2 - (2<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP>-dichloro-phenoxy) ethoxy, 2-morpholinoethoxy and 2-piperazinylethoxy group. |
