PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that reduction of an information amount and gradation changing exactly conformed to a conditional variation are incompatible with each other.

SOLUTION: When a host computer and a printing device are connected to be communicable in two ways, and printing is carried out by transferring data indicative of an image of a printing object to the printing device from the host computer, a halftone process is carried out at either of the host computer and the printing device for converting image data of the printing object to intermediate image data which has the gradation expressed by an ink discharge amount for more sub pixels than each pixel. In the halftone process, allocation of the ink discharge amount to the sub pixels is determined so that the constancy of a color value change pitch to an ink duty increase is maintained while a change pitch of the ink discharge amount is made non constant by eliminating a redundant ink discharge amount.
