A strip of insulating material 12 having bonded to it a plurality of flat conductors 16 which may be produced by chemical or electrolytic etching through a resist or by slitting conductors from metal foil and then laminating the conductors on to the insulating strip is coated at spaced areas 18 with a release agent to prevent the adherence of a subsequently applied wet film of resinous insulating material which is then converted by heating into a solid film. The strip is then cut into a number of flat cables at the areas free of the solid covering film. The resinous material may be an aromatic polyamide-imide resin and the release agent a material based on tetrafluoroethylene, a wax or a silicone. The insulating support film 12 may consist of either a deposited or a preformed resinous film. |
