PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new epoxy compound which can be derivable into a new cured epoxy resin product having liquid crystalline properties. SOLUTION: The epoxy compound is expressed by formula (1), [in the formula n represents an integer of 1-9; the -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>- group may have an inserted -O-, etc., between the methylene groups; Z is a divalent group expressed by formulas (Z-1)-(Z-7), where R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>, R<SP>7</SP>, R<SP>8</SP>, R<SP>9</SP>, R<SP>10</SP>and R<SP>11</SP>are the same or different and represent independently a hydrogen atom, etc.; m is an integer of 4-12; Ar<SP>1</SP>and Ar<SP>2</SP>are the same or different group expressed by formula (A-1)-(A-3); Y<SP>1</SP>and Y<SP>2</SP>are the same or different and each denotes single bond, -O-, etc.].
