Micro size hole production for diesel engine fuel injectors are produced using ultra short pulsed lasers

Micro sized holes (20,22,25) are formed in metal and particularly in diesel engine fuel injectors using lasers. The process uses ultra short pulsed lasers that are operated in phases in which the energy is progressively increased. This produces melt free regions allowing holes with high precision to be obtained.
