A gas segregator barrier (2) is for quenching, segregating and controllably directing ionized gases (65) discharged from a pair of spaced-apart circuit breakers (50A,50B) double-branch mounted within a panelboard assembly (100). The spaced-apart circuit breakers (50A,50B) include corresponding pairs of opposing poles (56A,56B;58A,58B;60A,60B), and a housing (52A,52B) with exhaust vent openings (54A,54B) for discharging ionized gases (65) developed from an electrical fault. The gas segregator barrier (2) includes at least substantially parallel segregator fins (4) divided into first and second portions (8,10) by a transverse dividing member (6). Baffles (24) in the transverse dividing member (6) quench the ionized gases (65) and provide fluid communication between exhaust channels (12,14,16) formed between the segregator fins (4) of the first portion (8), and gas ducts (18,20,22) disposed between the segregator fins (4) of the second portion (10).
