A driver, of the kind that slows down when the power requirement exceeds the maximum driver power, driving a gas compressor (104; 204; 304)is regulated b y recycling, via a pressure relief device (102; 202; 302), compressed gas to t he compressor inlet when the discharge pressure reaches a designated pressure thereby increasing the mass flow rate through the compressor.
