PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing process for easily obtaining a mushroom element of an automatic fastening system at a high production speed, eliminating the possibility of damaging the mushroom element when pulled out of an automatic fastening loop in the case of using the mushroom element in cooperation with the automatic fastening loop. SOLUTION: This automatic fastening system comprises a columnar rod 2 having a longitudinal axis and a cross section and a flange 5 protruded sideways from the rod 2 and substantially extending to the whole periphery of the rod. Particularly, in a mushroom male element for a hook or loop type automatic fastening closure, the rod has a certain cross section, specifically, a cross section which reduces from the bottom to the top of the rod. In the rod, an auxiliary cavity 6 is formed which has the maximum cross section crossing the axis of the rod, smaller than the maximum cross section of the cross sections of the rod 2.
