PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe and simple natural drug for controlling intestinal functions comprising a liquid fermentation extract or solid fermentation powder obtained by fermenting an extract liquid from a plant of the genus Machilus of the family Lauraceae with a useful microorganism (especially a soy sauce Koji).

SOLUTION: This drug for controlling the intestinal functions comprises the liquid fermentation extract or solid fermentation powder of the plant of the genus Machilus of the family Lauraceae or an extract liquid from the plant. A sweetener ingredient is further contained in the drug for controlling the intestinal functions.
