PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type scanning optical system in which a focusing optical system including a curved face mirror having a rotational symmetry form is used, spot diameters on a plane to be scanned is homogenized by reducing the variation of magnification in a subscanning direction, and the gaps between scanning lines are homogenized when used in a multibeam scanning type optical system. SOLUTION: In the reflection type scanning optical system, the focusing optical system is composed of the curved face mirror having a rotational symmetry form and a lens which has anamorphic lens face form on one of the faces. In the anamorphic lens face form, the tilt of the line of intersection of a subscanning cross section and the lens face in the subscanning cross section and the curvature of the line of intersection of the subscanning cross section and the lens face independently vary according to the position in a main scanning direction.
