PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape cutting method suppressing the fall of a magnetic film in cutting a magnetic tape with a support body formed of a material such as Aramid with a high Young's modulus. SOLUTION: In this magnetic tape cutting method, the circumferential speed of an upper cutting edge and that of a lower cutting edge are set to the same speed in feeding the magnetic tape S between the rotationally driven upper and lower cutting edges 11, 12 to cut it, and the circumferential speed of the upper cutting edge and that of the lower cutting edge are respectively set to +1% to the speed of the magnetic tape to cut the magnetic tape with the magnetic film formed on the support body with the young's modulus of 9500 MPa or more.
