A method for making a plurality of waveguide resonator devices (118) is disclosed herein. The method includes fixing a precursor resonator structure (106) relative to a plurality of waveguides (102). The method also includes dividing the precursor resonator structure (106) into a plurality of separate resonators after the precursor resonator structure (106) has been fixed relative to the waveguides (102). The precursor resonator structure (106) is divided at locations between the waveguides (102). In a preferred embodiment, the precursor resonator structure (106) is an optical fiber. In a preferred embodiment, the precursor resonator structure is normal to the waveguides (102).
