The cylinder head (1) has an inlet and exhaust channels (5) leading from the floor of the cylinder head to a side wall through a coolant chamber (2), a shaft (6) for an injection nozzle or ignition plug, several threaded bores (4) for bolting the head and several stiffening ribs (7,8) on the cylinder head floor protruding into the coolant chamber. Several ribs protrude into the coolant chamber radially from the shaft and further ribs protrude perpendicularly into the coolant chamber from a wall connecting (3) two bolt bores between two cylinders.
