<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a junction element with high joining property of an ion exchange membrane to use as the junction of the separator and the electrode layer preventing output drop of a fuel cell even after a long use using an ion exchange membrane mainly comprising a crosslinked ion exchange resin with high dimensional stability, high heat resistance, and high methanol permeability suitable for the junction in an electrochemical device such as a direct methanol fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: Ion exchange resin in the gaps between conductive inorganic particles and gaps between the conductive inorganic particles and the ion exchange membrane and ion exchange resin constituting the ion exchange membrane are formed in a continuous polymer. For example, a base material such as a porous film impregnated with polymerizable monomers for forming a crosslinked polymer is brought into contact with the conductive inorganic particles formed in a sheet, and while the contact is kept, the monomers are polymerized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
