<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact flow and liquid type detecting apparatus which simultaneously detects the quantity of flow of a fluid, and the liquid type and concentration of the fluid, and also accurately and speedily detects the quantity of flow, liquid type, and concentration of the fluid. <P>SOLUTION: The flow and liquid type detecting apparatus provided with: a main channel for circulating the fluid to be detected; a subchannel branched from the main channel; and a flow and liquid type detecting sensor device provided for the subchannel, is used for detecting the liquid type and/or concentration of the fluid. At this time, a subchannel opening and closing valve is closed to temporarily accumulate the fluid in the flow and liquid type detecting sensor device to detect its liquid type and/or concentration.
