<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which very easily manufactures an electron emission element, using a carbon nanotube (CNT) superior in electrical and mechanical properties. <P>SOLUTION: Two substrates 5 (5a, 5b) are separated from each other. As the two substrates 5 separate from each other, a plurality of CNTs 2 in line segments are made to arrange in a state of standing erect on the surfaces of the substrates 5 in unison. A paste material 3 is solidified to be used as a support. The support supports the CNTs 2, in a state of standing erect.
