METHOD FOR PRODUCING PHENOL DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely producing a high-purity phenol derivative in high efficiency useful as a modifier for a positive photoresist composition, a sensitizer and a ballast agent for a photosensitizer without requiring specific production equipment. SOLUTION: The method for producing a phenol derivative has a process for reacting a phenol with≥0.1 mol and <0.5 mol based on 1 mol of the phenol of an aromatic aldehyde in the presence of≥5 parts by mass of a phosphoric acid based on 100 parts by mass of the phenol in a heterogeneous system.
