<p>In a nip (20) of the pressing section (12) the fibrous web (14) is dewatered on one side only. Onto the opposite side, a chemical agent (24) is coated. The agent is coated by a moving smooth surface (22) onto the web. This is adjacent to the subject nip. It is coated in the run of the web (L) ahead of the nip. The smooth coating surface is a roller made of e.g. ceramic. In a variant, it is a moving conveyor belt with a smooth impermeable surface. Coating takes place in the last nip of the pressing section. The web is dewatered in the gap, into a permeable dewatering belt, especially a felt belt. Starch and/or another agent, e.g. an adhesive, is coated. It is coated as a free jet, onto the smooth surface, before leveling. Following the nip, the smooth surface is cleaned, e.g. using a scraper, especially a double scraper, preceded by a spray pipe. Alternatively high pressure water is used. Ahead of agent coating, the surface is coated with a passivation layer. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.</p> |
