<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional image generating method by which a three-dimensional configuration inputting means exhibiting a high practicability can be offered by obtaining only auxiliary information necessary for generating a three-dimensional configuration and generating the three-dimensional configuration of a shot object based on the auxiliary information. <P>SOLUTION: The three-dimensional image generating method has a first step for obtaining a first image which is shot with illumination from a position at a predetermined distance in the horizontal direction from a photographing means, and a second image which is shot with illumination in a position at a predetermined distance in the direction opposite to the horizontal direction from the photographing means; a second step for generating a difference image between the first image and the second image; a third step for extracting the rightmost pixel in a region having a pixel value of a certain positive threshold k1 or more, and the leftmost pixel in a region having a pixel value of a negative threshold -k1 or less for every horizonal line on the difference image; a fourth step for generating a depth map by performing operations of giving a distance to a region on the right of the rightmost pixel, and to a region on the left of the leftmost pixel according to a predetermined distance function for every horizontal line; and a fifth step for smoothing the depth map in the vertical direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
