PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce user's burden for updating an address book, to keep receivers' addresses in the address book up-to-date, and to prevent inadvertent leakage of the new addresses. SOLUTION: User terminals 1, 2 are provided with remote updating units 1-4 and 2-4, and mail servers 3, 4 are provided with notification units 3-2, and 4-2. If a user A instructs to modify the user's own mail address via the user terminal 1, and the address is thus modified in the mail server 3; the mail address of the user A registered in the address book 2-2 in the user terminal 2 is automatically modified.
