PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered ferrite magnet which greatly improves a saturated magnetization and/or coercive force as compared with a conventional art and which has an excellent cost performance. SOLUTION: The anisotropic sintered ferrite magnet contains a basic composition represented by A<SB>1-x</SB>R<SB>x</SB>Fe<SB>2n-y</SB>Co<SB>y</SB>O<SB>α</SB>at an atomic ratio (wherein A contains at least one type selected from the group consisting of Sr, Ba and Ca and always contains Sr, R contains at least one type selected from the group consisting of La, Nd and Pr and contains always La), 0.05≤y≤0.5, 0.05≤x≤0.5, 5≤n≤6,α=15 to 20. When a particle size distribution of crystal grain in a cross section perpendicular to the direction of an anisotropy is measured at 0.2μm pitch by a circle corresponding diameter, a particle size range in 1/2 of frequency of the maximum frequency is 1μm or less.
