PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve steering stability, ride comfort, and noise performance in a low frequency zone in a balanced manner. SOLUTION: In this pneumatic tire, a bead section 4 is provided with a bead apex 8 extending from the outer surface of a bead core 5 to the outside in the tire radial direction in a tapered shape. The bead apex 8 is made of rubber composition having hardness of 75-95 degrees. On a tire meridian cross section in a reference state of no load where it is rim-mounted to a normal rim 10 and normal inner pressure is filled, the length KL of the straight line K for interconnecting the outer end 8t and inner end 8e of the bead apex 8 in the tire radial direction is 40 mm or longer, the thickness (b) in the tire axial direction at a position Y separated by 15 mm from the inner surface 5i in the tire radial direction of the bead core 5 to the outside in the tire radial direction is 35-50 % of the thickness (a) in the tire axial direction of a base end facing the bead core 5, and thickness smoothly gradually decreases from the position Y to the outer end 8t.
