PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end mill made of high-speed tool steel or carbide steel suppressing progress of corner wear of an outer peripheral edge, in the end mill made of the high-speed tool steel or the carbide steel. SOLUTION: In the end mill whose base metal is a cemented carbide containing 5 to 14% cobalt or the high-speed tool steel, its cutting edge part is coated with one or more layers of 0.5 to 5μm thickness of the 4a, 5a, 6a group transition metal and the carbide, nitride, oxide and boride of the 3b, 4b group elements in the periodic table. Extremely micro-chamfer honing 4 of 0.01 to 0.05 mm is applied to the boundary part between an end cutting edge flank 2 applying a square edge or a front return and an outer peripheral flank 3.
