A process is described for the preparation of (2-hydroxymethyl-phenyl)-phenyl-methanol derivatives of general formula (I) <CHEM> useful as intermediates in the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients, comprising the reduction of the corresponding benzophenonic derivative with potassium borohydride.
