PURPOSE: A preview apparatus for viewing screens of several channels mixed with NTSC(National Television System Committee) and PAL(Phase Alternation by Line) types within a screen is provided to display a conventional text-based channel list using a shortened image, thereby capable of distinguishing kinds of present receiving images from the channel list. CONSTITUTION: A channel control member(100) and an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) selection member(200) extracts image information from the MPEG stream data. An MPEG decoder member(300) makes the compressed image information as 1 frame. A screen displaying member(500) displays the decompressed image to a screen. A preview device member(600) is installed between the MPEG decoder member and the screen displaying member. The Image information of a preview reproduction RAM(Random Access Memory) reconstructed by the preview device member are transmitted to the screen displaying member. At this time, multiple screens of images, instead of the previous full image, are reproduced to a screen. That is, 4/9/16 divided screens are displayed on a screen through the image processing.
