<p>The invention relates to a method for diagnosis of a detector (1) intended for detecting the position of a moving element (9), whereby the detector (1) is of the inductive type and comprises a coil (5) and a core (4) movable within the coil, the position of said core in relation to the coil (5) being dependent on the position of said element (9), whereby the method comprises connecting a regularly alternating electrical voltage to said coil (5), measuring the current (i) flowing through the coil (5), and measuring the period of time (t1) needed for said current (i) to change from a first predetermined level to a second predetermined level. The invention is characterised by said diagnosis comprising measuring a certain period of time (t1; t2) passing during magnetisation of said core (4) with said voltage; comparison between values based on said measured period of time (t1; t2) in relation to a predetermined limit value, and determining whether any errors are evident in said sensor (1) through said comparison. Through the invention, an improved diagnosis of detectors for position detection is provided, primarily intended for automotive vehicle gearboxes.</p> |
