PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling a display of a portable terminal are provided to cut off the power of the second display according to a positioned direction of a portable terminal, thereby reducing the power consumption of the portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A controller checks whether a current mode is a display mode(301). If so, the controller decides whether an automatic display change mode is set(302). If so, the controller senses whether a direction sensing signal is outputted(303). If so, the controller senses whether the second direction sensing signal is generated(304). If not, the controller senses whether the third direction sensing signal is generated(305). If not, the controller senses whether the fourth direction sensing signal is generated(306). If so, the controller cuts off power of the second display(307).
