<p>Filler particles (4) are added to a plastic base material (2). The particles are at least partly encapsulated in a binder material(8). Particles are preferably completely encapsulated in the binder (8). Binder may enclose the particles in layers. Molded products may have a particle free outer cover layer with openings. Particle filler content in the plastic is 10-95 vol%. Particles have a regular polyhedron or spherical shape. Average particle size is adapted to the minimum wall thickness of a component to be produced. A reduction of damage to particles during processing is achieved if spherical particles are used with an average size not >1mm. Binder on immediately adjacent particles forms a matrix material which bonds the particles together in a molded or formed product. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a component (1) made from the claimed material; and (2) a process for manufacturing the previously claimed component in which porous filler particles (4) are enclosed in a binder (8) and combined with a plastic matrix to form a compound which may be injection molded, extruded, foamed or processed into textiles.</p> |
