The convertible chair cum couch (1) has a box frame (2) containing a carriage (7) which can be pulled out on wheels (8). The cover for the couch (15) consists of a mattress (14) on top of support laths (15) and is prevented from lateral movement by side and end members (W1-3). The couch assembly rests on top of the carriage. The box frame incorporates guide rails (10), a movable rod (18) and a stop. A pivot (5) is connected to a swiveling backrest (4).
