1314481 De-chargeable nickel-hydrogen cells B I ISENTER A I KLOSS and V M SERGEEV 11 March 1971 6608/71 Heading H1B In a hermetically sealed nickel-hydrogen storage cell comprising positive nickel oxide electrodes 1 and negative hydrogen electrodes 2, separated by separators, an electrolyte filling the pores of said electrodes and separators, the ratio of thickness of negative to positive electrodes is in the range of 1 : 1 and 1 : 20; the ratio of the volume of electrolyte to the volume of the pores is in the range of 5 : 10 to 9 : 10; and there is 0À5 x 10<SP>-3</SP> to 2 x 10<SP>-3</SP> cubic metres of gas per kilogram of mass of nickel hydroxide in the positive nickel-oxide electrode. The negative hydrogen electrode is a porous nickelbase cermet matrix. Some of the positive nickel oxide electrodes are made of uniformed hydrated nickelous oxide and account for 0À3 to 0À8 of the total number of positive nickel-oxide electrodes. |
