The match or needle dispenser has two casing sections movably connected together and with at least one cut out defining a cover. The sections can retain matches or needles between them. The sections can be relatively rotated, slid or hinged to expose the matches (50). The sections (40) can have at least three cut outs and the dispenser can be shaped as a star, sun or spore.
