METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COLLECTING AND REDISTRIBUTING FLOW OF LIQUID DESCENDING IN EXCHANGE COLUMN TO LAYER OF STRUCTURED PACKING PART IN EXCHANGE COLUMN

PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus and a method for collecting and redistributing a flow of descending liquid to structured packing part in an exchange column for heat and/or mass transfer processes, and a method for assembling the apparatus for collecting and redistributing a flow of descending liquid to structured packing part in the exchange column used in the heat and/or mass transfer processes. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus(10) for collecting and redistributing a flow of descending liquid in an exchange column comprising one or more layers of structured packing part equipped with an inner wall having a longitudinal axis, a crossing part and an inner circumference, and an outer face spatially distanced from the inner circumference of the inner wall, the apparatus comprises a wall-flow collector(12) disposed above the layers of the structured packing part in the exchange column, wherein the wall-flow collector has an outer circumference adjacent to the inner circumference of the inner wall and is controlled to collect at least some of liquid descended on the inner wall or in the vicinity of the inner wall of the exchange column; a transfer means disposed in the exchange column to transfer at least some of the liquid collected by the wall-flow collector toward the longitudinal axis as long as a substantial distance by traversing the crossing part of the exchange column; and a distribution means for distributing at least some of the collected liquid to the layers of the structured packing part from the transfer means, wherein the transfer means comprises one or more gutters(14) that are fluid communicated with the wall-flow collector and extended by traversing at least a part of the crossing part of the exchange column, and the distribution means includes one or more holes(16) or overflow notches formed on each of the gutters.
