PURPOSE: A wear warning system and a method of a brake pad for a vehicle are provided to check exactly the time for replacing the brake pad and to prevent accidents caused by defects of a brake by detecting wear degree of the brake pad with voltage generated from a piezo-electric element according to a forward movement of a piston. CONSTITUTION: In a disc brake operated by pressing a brake disc(9) by transmitting hydraulic pressure to a cylinder(3) and then moving brake pads(10) arranged at both sides of a piston(7), a wear warning system of the brake pad for a vehicle is composed of a piezo-electric element(6) installed at the side of the piston to receive constant pressure and generate voltage as the piston moves forward; a ring-shaped limiter(14) connected with the piezo-electric element through a spring(5) and hung at a boot(4) fixed and disposed at the side of the cylinder near the piston; and a warning unit(12) coupled with the piezo-electric element and operated by voltage generated from the piezo-electric element.
