SIDE AIR BAG CONTROL SYSTEM USING SIDE IMPACT SENSORS AND CONTACT SWITCHES AND A CONTROL METHOD OF THE SIDE AIR BAG CONTROL SYSTEM, INCLUDING RIGHT AND LEFT IMPACT SENSORS, RIGHT AND LEFT CONTACT SWITCHES, AND AN ECU

PURPOSE: A side air bag control system using side impact sensors and contact switches and a control method of the side air bag control system are provided to prevent wrong use of side air bags for collisionless partial impact to the vicinity of the side impact sensors by simultaneously considering deceleration and acceleration and a contact state, in determining the expanding state of the side air bags. CONSTITUTION: A side air bag control system using side impact sensors and contact switches comprises right and left impact sensors(10,20); right and left contact switches(30,40) mounted on doors of a vehicle and side panels near the door; and an ECU(Electronic Control Unit,70). The right and left contact switches are turned on and the right and left contact switches to generate trigger signals. The ECU determines a collision state on the basis of input signals of the right and left impact sensors and on-signals of the right and left contact switches and decides the expanding state of right and left air bags(50,60) by multiplying an impact value by a weighted value if the remotest contact sensor from the side impact sensors is turned on.
