PURPOSE: An audio signal transmission method and apparatus is provided to synchronize audio signals with an audio sampling rate at a media source device according to an audio format kind of the media sink device so that the media sink device normally regenerates the audio signals. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. In a case that a media source device connects to a media sink device via an interface cable, the media source device waits for data, including an audio format instruction code of the media sink device. In a case that the data, including audio format instruction code, is input from the media sink device, the media source device parses the data including the audio format instruction code, and detects the audio format instruction code(S214). The media source device checks whether the detected audio format instruction code is the same as a preset audio format instruction code(S216). In a case that the detected audio format instruction code is different from the preset one, the media source device resets a sampling rate appropriate for the audio format of the media sink device(S218). The media source device synchronizes the audio signal according to the reset sampling rate, and transmits the synchronized audio signals to the media sink device(S220).
