PURPOSE: An apparatus for changing speed of a rotary shaft in a compressor is provided to change capacity of a compressor compressing refrigerant gas by changing speed of rotary force. CONSTITUTION: A rotary shaft is formed in a power generating unit(150) generating rotary force to transmit the rotary force. A transmission(160) changes a rotary speed of the rotary shaft. A compressing unit(20) is connected with the transmission for receiving the speed-changed rotary force to absorb a refrigerant. The transmission includes a driving pulley(161) inserted into the rotary shaft, and a driven pulley(162) mounted at a driven shaft(153) corresponding to the driving pulley, a belt(163) connecting the driving pulley with the driven pulley, and an actuator(164) supporting the belt to move the belt in an axial direction of the rotary shaft to change the rotary speed of the rotary shaft.
