The cover may be applied by (a) compression or injection-moulding hemispherical cups and fitting these to the core with subsequent moulding to unite the cups or (b) injection moulding directly on to the core, optionally in two steps. The cover may be formed from a blend with other polymers, e.g. polystyrene, polyisoprene, or balata, and may be vulcanized after formation.
