1, 248, 812. Electro-chemical analysis. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. March 28, 1969 [March 29, 1968], No. 16420/69. Heading G1N. The invention relates to a method of determining e.g. halogenated, cyanided or sulphurated compounds in air, similar to that disclosed in Specification 1, 109, 295 wherein the air-stream is mixed with an electrolyte which is fed to a cell having a large counter-electrode and the standing potential in the absence of impurities is backed off. In this case the electrolyte contains a salt of the detector electrode metal e.g. silver chloride, and the "impurity voltage" is measured, instead of the current, by a high impedance voltmeter, e.g. incorporating an F. E. T. amplifier. As shown the counter-electrode is a block e.g. of stainless steel with a hemi-spherical recess forming the bottom of the cell as described in Specification 1,189,763. The recess may be gold or platinum -plated. |
