A spindle (14) with at least one hand grip (22) extends through the arm (1) and two tabs (2, 3) belonging to a support (4) on either side of the arm. A mechanism (14) is provided for displacement of the spindle in the axial direction. A mechanism is also provided for generating a resistance between the arm and at least one of the tabs. The spindle displacement mechanism comprises a cam on the hand grip for cooperating with a recessed part of a plate fixed in a non-rotary manner between the hand grip and adjacent tab. The resistance generating mechanism comprises a disc made from a material with a high frictional resistance, or it can comprise cooperating sets of teeth on the tab and arm. The arm is pivotally mounted between the tabs.
