METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TWO CODECS OF A MOBILE TERMINAL, PARTICULARLY FOR PROVIDING A CODEC BOTH AT A MAIN PROCESSOR(CPU) AND AT A SUB-PROCESSOR(DSP) AND SELECTIVELY USING ONE CODEC AS NECESSARY

PURPOSE: A method for controlling two codecs of a mobile terminal is provided to enhance user's convenience and reduce resources by selectively using a suitable codec according to a size and characteristics of multimedia contents. CONSTITUTION: When an operation starts, video/audio data is inputted(301). A main CPU reads a size and resolution of the data or width and length values of image data(302). It is determined whether to use a codec of a DSP or a codec of a main CPU(303). If the size of the multimedia file or the width and length values of the image data is/are related to video data and audio data, the codec of the DSP is called(306) and an operation of the codec of the DSP is performed(307). If the size of the multimedia file or the width and length values of the image data is/are related to other values than the video data and audio data, the codec of the main CPU is called(304) and an operation of the codec of the main CPU is performed(305).
