PURPOSE: A semiconductor memory device is provided to arrange core layout in a chip easily and at the same time to reduce chip size by reducing the number of sense amplifiers. CONSTITUTION: According to the semiconductor memory device having a number of memory cell blocks, a column selection unit(42) is connected to each memory cell block through a bit line. A plurality of switching units(54,56) switch a reference voltage(Vref) by being connected to both input ports of a sense amplifier(58). A pair of column selection units are connected to both input ports of one sense amplifier, and the reference voltage is connected to one input port of the sense amplifier when data of a specific bit line is inputted to another input port of the sense amplifier through a data line.
