PURPOSE: A chip resistor, a manufacturing method thereof, a manufacturing method of a substrate for chip resistors are provided to reduce a mounting error by improving a flatness of the chip resistor and prevent a printed image from spreading in paste printing. CONSTITUTION: A chip resistor includes a chip type substrate(30), a conductive paste(31), a resistor paste(32), and a side electrode. The chip type substrate includes a groove having predetermined depth and width from one side to the other side thereof. The conductive paste is printed on both sides of the groove such that the groove is exposed on a side portion of the substrate. The resistor paste is printed between the conductive pastes and a portion of the upper portion of the conductive paste. The side electrode is formed on both side portions where the conductive paste is exposed.
