PURPOSE: A semiconductor memory device having a self refresh mode is provided to reduce standby power consumption by having an elastic refresh period. CONSTITUTION: According to the semiconductor memory device having a self refresh mode, an address signal generation unit(22) generates a plurality of address signals with different periods when a refresh operation signal is inputted. And a logic unit(23) stores addresses of cells having bad refresh characteristics in a register, and generates a refresh address signal and a refresh enable signal by comparing the plurality of address signals with the address of the register.
