摘要 PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for controlling downlink traffic in an EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) are provided to control impartiality among ONUs(Optical Network Units) by guaranteeing a contracted band of each ONU and QoS with respect to burst traffic. CONSTITUTION: A Token of each ONU constituting an EPON is generated and stored(S110). Downlink data is repeatedly transmitted until the EPON is terminated(S120). When downlink data is generated to be transmitted to the ONUs(S130), an arrival rate of each ONU is determined according to ONU information for transmitting the downlink data(S140). A dynamic buffer allocated to a corresponding ONU is controlled according to the arrival rate(S150). Whether to transmit the downlink data is determined based on the previously stored token information(S160). The length of the data stored in the dynamic buffer and the length of the data transmissible by the token which has been generated with respect to the corresponding ONU are compared to determine whether the data can be transmitted(S170). If the length of the data stored in the dynamic buffer is shorter than the length of the data transmissible by the token, the token is received and the corresponding data is transmitted(S180). The token information with respect to the corresponding ONU is changed according to the transmission result(S190).
