DRIVER APPARATUS OF PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND ITS DRIVING METHOD, ESPECIALLY INCLUDING SUB FIELD MAPPING UNIT AND LOAD DETECTION UNIT GENERATING CONTROL SIGNAL

PURPOSE: A driver apparatus of a plasma display panel and its driving method are provided to reduce unnecessary power consumption without supplying a sustain pulse during a sustain period of a sub field where data is not supplied. CONSTITUTION: One frame includes a number of sub fields. A sub field mapping unit(44) maps data inputted from the external to a stored sub field pattern. An APL(Average Picture Level) calculation unit(47) calculates APL corresponding to the data inputted from the external, and generates sustain pulse number information corresponding to the calculated APL. A load detection unit(46) receives data mapped from the sub field mapping unit, and generates a control signal in correspondence to the supply of data per sub field. And a wave generation unit(48) controls a sustain pulse supplied to the panel in correspondence to the sustain pulse number information and the control signal.
