PURPOSE: A food composition containing D-galactose having anticariogenic effects as an effective ingredient is provided. The product can be added to various beverages, breads and confectionery products to prevent progress of carious lesions and reduce the risk of tooth decay. CONSTITUTION: The food composition contains D-galactose having anticariogenic effects. The D-galactose has an effect of inhibiting bacteria that cause tooth decay and gum infections while being useful as a sweetener. In application tests, the pH level of D-galactose(3% solution) is significantly higher than the non-application. Therefore, D-galactose has anticariogenic effects. |
