In Fig. 3 the heating conductors comprise horizontal bands of baked metallic deposit, applied by the silk-screen method and reinforced by electro-deposition. The bands in zones 34, 35 are given a wider cross-section thus reducing the heating effect in these zones. Alternatively the variation in resistance across the bands may be effected by differential electrodeposition of a metal, carried out after the deposition and baking of bands of a uniform cross-section. Alternatively heating may be achieved by resistance wires arranged vertically, the spacing being varied according to the heating required in the different areas, or the resistances may be in the form of transparent coatings, such as tin oxide or a layer of gold between two layers of bismuth oxide.</p> |
